Special Ship

Navires spéciauxEarly as 1983 the Bureau Mauric was interested by special ships with the development of exploration ship to the Cousteau Foundation. It develops the mono-catamaran concept applied to Alcyone, and take part in the installation of turbovoile. The Alcyone remains today an outstanding achievement, never equaled. The Calypso II project, big brother of Alcyone will unfortunately never happen, because of the death of the Commander.

The Bureau Mauric is also involved in multihulls, including semi-submersibles that meet the needs of quiet platform. This will lead to collaboration with COMEX for a draft trimaran SWATH (Small Area Twin Hull Waterplane): the Tribex, and a draft semi-SWATH: Janus 30m catamaran launched in 1999.

Today, the Bureau Mauric is the only French naval architecture firm that can boast significant experience in the SWATH field (see publications).

In 2007, we developed a quite very specific monohull for the Pilot of the Loire: The Couronnée IV provides, for a 40m vessel of 500 tons, acceleration levels comparable to those of a vessel of 1500 tons, three times bigger ! This exceptional boat gives a clear idea of the technical level reached by the Bureau Mauric in seakeeping.
