Designing efficient offshore sailing yachts and comfortable leisure yachts has been at the core of MAURIC's business since its inception in 1945. Wind-powered vessel design is truly in our DNA, with renowned offshore sailing yachts like Kriter V, France 1, and Pen Duick VI etched in the memories of sailing enthusiasts worldwide.
In the 1980s, MAURIC pioneered Wind Assisted Vessel design with Alcyone, created in collaboration with Jacques Yves Cousteau's oceanographic research foundation. This innovative monocat, featuring two Turbosails designed by Technicatome for auxiliary power, was the first professional vessel with wind assistance. It demonstrated MAURIC's capacity to innovate for environmental impact reduction.
More recently, MAURIC began designing the Neoliner 136, a 136m sailing cargo vessel, in 2015. This project, in collaboration with the start-up Neoline, further established MAURIC as a pioneer in maritime transport decarbonization.
MAURIC, with its expertise in hull design and proven know-how in complex system integration, is an ideal partner for developing innovative Wind Powered Vessels. Based on a vessel's operational profile, we can develop tailored solutions by selecting the most appropriate wind assistance or propulsion technology. Our range includes soft sails, hard sails, Flettner rotors, rotor sails, suction wings, and kites, all of which we skillfully integrate into vessel architecture and structure.
