IWSA Wind Propulsion Systems Seminar

Vincent Seguin, CEO of MAURIC, will speak on primary wind propulsion during the Wind Propulsion Systems seminar organised in cooperation with the International Windship Association. The session covers the full spectrum of wind propulsion solutions currently deployed across fleet segments, from rigid wings and rotor sails to suction sails, soft sails and kites.
The second part of the seminar focuses on design, integration and operation, addressing both retrofit and newbuild applications, optimisation techniques and real-world operational learnings. Vincent will share MAURIC's expertise in windpowered vessel design, drawing on our involvement in pioneering projects that place wind at the centre of the propulsion strategy rather than as an auxiliary system.

TradeWinds Shipowners Forum Germany : Fleet Renewal and the New Building Dilemma

Later that same day, Vincent Seguin joins a panel of senior industry leaders at the TradeWinds Shipowners Forum Germany to discuss one of the most critical questions facing the shipping industry today: how to make fleet renewal decisions when future fuel pathways remain unresolved.
The panel, moderated by Craig Eason, Senior Editor at TradeWinds, will examine the trade-offs between fuel flexibility and long-term vessel performance, the constraints of shipyard capacity amid rising construction costs, and the investment strategies available to shipowners navigating limited regulatory and market clarity.

SINTEF Wind-Powered Ships Seminar 2026
2 September 2026 | 15:00–17:00 CEST | Room St Petersburg

Co-hosted by SINTEF Ocean and Fraunhofer, this seminar is titled Wind-Powered Ships Seminar 2026: From Concept to Commercial Operation. Vincent Seguin will present : Selection of relevant benchmark cases for assessing the potential of WAPS in the global fleet, about the latest work on wind propulsion, with a particular focus on the first steps of the EU Horizon-funded AWESOME project.
The AWESOME project, coordinated by Kongsberg Maritime, brings together 15 partners across Europe to test how wind propulsion can be integrated with onboard systems, control and automation under real operating conditions. The research supports compliance with frameworks such as FuelEU Maritime and future IMO standards, while helping shipowners reduce fuel consumption before turning to more costly low-carbon fuels.
