Research Vessels are polyvalent platforms integrating various types of scientific and survey equipment, deployed from the vessel, towed or integrated onboard such as robots or unmanned systems. The Research Vessels become systems requiring a high level of integration for the safety, operability and efficiency of the campaigns at sea.

MAURIC naval architects with their specific competences in systems integration have developed a range of coastal or oceanic Research Vessels that can be customized to answer to your operational requirements.

Since our first design of scientific vessel, the Alcyon for Cousteau’s foundation in the eighties, the complexity of Research Vessel and their equipment significantly increased.

Our designs are based on sea-proven hull form technology allowing optimizing seakeeping performances, as for the Multi-mission 450 which benefits from the semi-SWATH hull form technology, providing exceptional seakeeping performances and improving the operability of the vessel and comfort onboard. The launch and recovery of survey or scientific equipment is made easier and safer thanks to the limited motions and accelerations of the vessel in comparison with similar vessels of the same size.

Our vessel designs offer great flexibility for system integration. General arrangement of our designs can be customized to the number of crew and scientific personal to accommodate, to the type and surface of labs required and the type of scientific equipment to operate from the vessel: side scan sonars, multibeam sonar, unmanned vehicles (USV, UAV, AUV) and ROV.

Our designs comply with all the international maritime regulations and can be adapted to specific acoustic regulations such as the ICES 206, thanks to special propulsion packages and adaptation of design. MAURIC sea-proven solutions for coastal and oceanic Research Vessels offers great safety, flexibility and operability for optimizing your campaigns at sea.
