MAURIC Expands to Singapore
MAURIC has reached a new milestone in its development plan by establishing its presence in Southeast Asia. Marin Guillo joins the team as Business Developer to explore and develop opportunities in this dynamic marketplace of maritime sector.
BUSINESS DEVELOPER TO ANCHOR MAURIC'S ASIAN OPERATIONS
Marin Guillo, newly appointed Business Developer for MAURIC, has taken up residence at Changi Business Park, Singapore, positioning himself closer to clients and prospects across both commercial and naval sectors. His mission encompasses developing relationships with regional shipyards and shipowners, with the objective of extending MAURIC's reach throughout Southeast Asia.
"This establishment will enable us to engage in direct discussions with Southeast Asian shipyards to develop design projects and respond swiftly to the specific requirements of local markets," explains Fabrice Ghozlan, Sales and Business Development Director at MAURIC.
Strategically positioned in Singapore—the region's preeminent maritime hub located opposite Batam Island, which hosts nearly 200 shipyards—Marin Guillo will be well-placed to serve key regional markets effectively whilst benefiting from this exceptional proximity to one of Southeast Asia's largest shipbuilding clusters.
SOUTHEAST ASIAN MARITIME MARKET IN FULL EXPANSION
Southeast Asia presents MAURIC with promising prospects in a region undergoing significant maritime transformation, driven by robust economic growth (3-7%) and substantial investment in maritime infrastructure. This momentum generates explosive demand for regional shipping, ferries, port support vessels, and decarbonised solutions. With several hundred shipyards across the region, local governments are seeking innovative but reliable partners capable of technology transfer whilst respecting their requirements for regional industrialisation.
Each country presents specificities that align with MAURIC's expertise:
- Singapore is investing heavily in alternative fuel vessels and cutting-edge technologies, pursuing leadership in sustainable maritime operations across Asia,
- Malaysia is revitalising its industrial and military ambitions through coastal patrol vessel programme for instance,
- Indonesia, with its thousands of islands, is developing its archipelagic logistics with critical requirements for ferries, RoPax vessels, and passenger ships to ensure inter-island connectivity,
- Vietnam, seeking strategic autonomy, is multiplying partnerships in shipbuilding,
- Thailand is developing major port corridors that will reshape regional maritime routes,
- The Philippines, with an aging fleet, are embarking on ambitious modernisation programs with priority requirements for RoPax vessels, ferries, and cargo ships to secure transport links and support the blue economy.
All these markets represent potential opportunities for MAURIC partnerships with local shipyards, to answer local requirements with state-of-the-art ship designs, mostly sea proven and high-end technologies.
ENHANCED SYNERGY WITH EXAIL GROUP
MAURIC, an Exail Group company, benefits from Exail's established presence in Singapore across civil and naval markets. This strategic presence, reinforced by active local collaborations, constitutes a major asset for MAURIC’s development.
The synergy already proven effective in other markets will enable the delivery of integrated solutions to Asian clients, combining cutting-edge naval ship design with advanced technological systems, including navigation equipment and marine robotics.
INITIAL CONTACTS ESTABLISHED IN THE PHILIPPINES
MAURIC is commercially active in the area for more than five years, identifying potential projects, partnerships. “By extending our range of ship designs above 80m we have naturally followed some shipowners in the area, starting discussions with Southeast Asia shipyards. In 2023, we participated to our first exhibition in the region with Singapore Maritime Week 2023, which confirmed the interest of maritime stakeholders for MAURIC’s expertise and our ship design portfolio” explains Vincent SEGUIN, President of MAURIC.
In March 2025, MAURIC exhibited at Singapore Maritime Week 2025, in particular its Zero Emissions designs and Neoliner Origin, a 136-m sailing cargo vessel design to be delivered in the following months. In June 2025, MAURIC also participated in "The France-Philippines Technical Cooperation Day" conference during Philmarine 2025 exhibition. These events confirm a great potential with valuable partners and exciting projects to come.
