The 5th of October, BUREAU D’ETUDES MAURIC changes its name and becomes MAURIC and presents its new brand identity. This is the opportunity to remind its attachment to its values, to present its offer of services and solutions and to come back on the ongoing and future projects, in particular with its mother company ECA GROUP, within the field of naval drones integration.

Do not day Bureau d'Etudes Mauric anymore but MAURIC

MAURIC is a naval architecture and marine engineering company founded in 1945 by André Mauric, famous architect of the mythical boats like Pen Duick VI, Kriter V but also many patrol boats or interceptors for Coastguards or foreign navies. With one team of 25 employees on two sites, Marseille and Nantes, MAURIC offers a very wide range of ship designs in the sectors of defence, security, Oil and Gas, marine renewable energy, cargo or passenger transport, fishing, etc ... Beyond naval architecture, MAURIC is also a naval engineering company and more recently developed an offer of integration services of specific complex civilian or military systems on ships.

The entrance of MAURIC within the ECA Group which became the main stake holder via a stake of up to 60% of its capital in 2016, allows her to remain independent from naval shipyards and shipowners and to access to international development opportunities in synergy with the activities of ECA Group.

This change of brand identity is part of this dynamic of development in Europe and worldwide towards all players in the maritime world. By refocusing its identity around the name MAURIC, the company must gain notoriety and attractiveness. Pascal LEMESLE, Chairman of the Management Board of MAURIC, declares: " Simple, intelligible and pronounceable in all languages, the name MAURIC stands out from the notion of "Bureau d’études = Design Office", Reflecting the broadening of our service offer from design and engineering activities to project contracting activities for integration of naval and complex systems on board ships."

A new name holding the same values

MAURIC fully expresses the commitment of the company to the work of André MAURIC, one of the greatest naval architects of the 20th century, to his history marked by ambitious projects led by André MAURIC then by Jean-Charles NAHON from the 80s and the values that have made MAURIC famous since its creation. The values of expertise, know-how, experience, creativity, technological innovation and research of performance have always accompanied ship projects designed within MAURIC with the aim of offering operational and safe designs with often unequalled nautical performances.

These are the values of exigency and continuous innovation serving seafarers and passengers of MAURIC ships that our collaborators include today in all our designs.

While MAURIC is expanding its range of services, MAURIC is also working today to contribute to the energetic transition. After diesel-electric hybrid ship projects such as Arpège, the trawler of the future, financed by ADEME, or SHYPER the hydrogen fuelled trawler, MAURIC is continuing its developments in the field of eco-responsible ships with today projects of hydrogen fuelled ships, gas fuelled vessels with the LNG bunkering vessel range SHERPAZ or NEOLINER the sailing cargo vessel for which MAURIC developed the complete basic design.

A new identity at the service of innovation, and drones at the heart of projects

MAURIC is currently conducting design studies on ship concepts with extended operational capabilities, particularly with the introduction of robotic systems on board deployable by higher sea states.

With the help of ECA Group, MAURIC is developing a range of naval drones’ motherships dedicated to mine warfare, domain where ECA Group is the French leader. Inspired by MAURIC’s Sea-Proven designs of patrol boats and OPVs, the OCTOPODA range of vessels, in reference to the octopus and its tentacles allowing the implementation of different types of naval drones is composed of OCTOPODA 300 and OCOTOPDA 500. Both designs are specifically designed for the deployment function (storage, handling, launch and recovery) of ECA Group's UMIS TM MCM robotized and unmanned systems. MAURIC is continuing its development works on optimizing the integration of any type of naval drone and facilitating automated Launch and Recovery to offer its customers and those of ECA Group the best operational solutions.

MAURIC, with ECA Group, will present in detail this range OCTOPODA as well as its specific work of designing a new USV INSPECTOR 120 at the EURONAVAL 2018 exhibition which will be held from 23rd to 26th of October at Le Bourget in Paris.
