Third Offshore Patrol Vessel Auguste Techer Reached La Réunion Island
Auguste Techer, the third vessel in a modern six-ship series of the Félix Éboué class, has arrived her home port of La Réunion.
This 80-meter patrol vessel will complete the deployment alongside sister ships already operational in Nouméa and Papeete. This series follows a tender won by the Socarenam-MAURIC partnership in 2019. Purpose-built to French Navy specifications for overseas operations, the vessels meet the specific requirements of sovereignty missions across French waters in the Pacific and Indian Oceans.

Auguste Techer incorporates technical capabilities developed by MAURIC. Her hybrid propulsion system enables all patrol operations up to 12 knots under electric power, ensuring exceptional crew comfort whilst preserving the main engines from fouling. The vessel operates two interchangeable 6.5-to-8-meter RHIBs, one deployed via stern ramp, the other by davit, providing maximum operational flexibility for the crew of 35 sailors and 18 special forces personnel.
Following her transit via the Cape of Good Hope, Auguste Techer had the opportunity to demonstrate her seakeeping capabilities, just like the number two's successful passage around Cape Horn in 2024. This journey served as a comprehensive operational trial.
This excellent seakeeping performance results from MAURIC's signature technical combination: hard-chine hull form paired with anti-roll keels and tanks, and optimised beam combined with a vessel deliberately kept low in the water.
Upon her arrival in La Réunion, Auguste Techer strengthens the French naval presence in the Indian Ocean.
The fourth vessel in the series is scheduled for sea trials by the end of 2025.
